Ngc 7331 - The Deerlick Group

Astrophotography By Salvatore Grasso

Ngc 7331 is a Spiral Galaxy Located about 49 Million light years distant towards the constellation Pegaus. It is about 30,000 light years across. Ngc 7331 has a Retrograde bulge which means that its central bulge rotates in the opposite direction as the galactic disk.  Ngc 7331 was chosen as one of the galaxies to narrow down the measurement of the cosmological constant. Also seen in this field of view are many smaller galaxies. these are not tidally interacting with Ngc 7331, and are about 10 times smaller and 10 times further away than Ngc 7331.
